Modern transport infrastructures
With three international airports, Paris Region has excellent airport infrastructures to connect with the world :
- Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Europe's leading continental airport, carried 65.9 million passengers and more than 2.2 million tons of goods in 2016
- Paris-Orly, 31.3 million passengers in 2016
- Paris-Le Bourget, leading business airport in Europe
Paris Region has a dense port network with 70 urban ports, 6 multimodal platforms and 1,000 ha of port areas.
With a direct connection to the Atlantic maritime coast, Paris Region is the main waterway in France for carrying goods.
Seven TGV (high-speed train) stations connect Paris Region with other cities in France: Lille in 1 hr, Lyon in 2 hr and Marseille in 3 hr 10 min plus Europe with Brussels in 1 hr 20 min, London in 2 hr 15 min, Amsterdam in 3 hr 17 min and Frankfurt in 3 hr 38.
The Grand Paris Express project will add more than 200 km of new lines and 68 new stations, in an already extensive public transport network (metro and RER*)
